Volunteers Work On Trails At Our Summer Trail Days

It has been a great summer of trail days at Harbin Park, Nighthawk Bike Park, and Hueston Woods. Troy Warnken and Mitch Watson have been hard at work to bring world-class trails to our community, and with the help of our volunteers, we were able to accomplish work much quicker. This work keeps the trails maintained and progressive, with our Trail Crew always seeking ways to improve the ridability and safety of the terrain.

Harbin Trail Days

23 volunteers helped mitigate drainage control on the Green loop, modified the first berm and built a second berm, and of course removed honeysuckle. They also did some minor dirt work to cover problematic roots.

Nighthawk Bike Park Trail Days

With 10 cubic yards of clean clay soil delivered, Troy and Mitch used the mini excavator and mud buggy to position the soil. 15 volunteers helped shape the soil and remove copious amounts of honeysuckle. The trails were treated with our compactor to pack the soil.

Hueston Woods Trail Day

Despite the formal cancellation of the trail day due to storms, the Trail Crew waited out the storm and a few volunteers still showed up to help trim the trails to prepare for the Hueston Woods 6 Hour MTB race. Maria and the trail crew at Hueston Woods put in hours of work on their own, and a few extra bodies and hours saved them tons of time!

Trail Days like these are something to be proud of. As CORA builds more programming around trail building and maintenance, we plan to build more consistent trail days at each trail system to provide world-class trails for the community. This is a great way to get the community involved and tend to the trails.

Thank you to each volunteer for taking time out of your busy schedules to help us accomplish hours of work together.
