How does my monthly contribution support CORA?
It’s a great opportunity to support trail advancement in Greater Cincinnati. We have a strategic plan to build 375 miles of natural surface trail within the year 2030. That gives us 5 years to secure funding, build valuable volunteer programing, acquire more tools and equipment to advance this work, design more trails to widen the variety for multi-use, prioritizing progression and advancement, along with accessibility and building an infrastructure of health and wellness for one of the best trail systems in the world.
How does this benefit me and my surrounding communities?
There’s nothing like knowing your contribution builds the future of trails, and you can have that sense of pride knowing you had something to do with that. Your sustaining membership enables us to keep this program alive and provide access to the trails you love.
This gives you and your communities access to trails, and that’s something to hold closely. We believe that trails are the fountain of youth, and there is nothing like being outside like we were when we were kids, excited about our next adventure. These trails keep us young. Each outdoor recreation you choose for the trail, there is always something new to notice, explore, and reflect on. Soak it in and tell your neighbors about it too!
I want to know more about the mission of CORA!
That’s great! CORA exists as a non-profit organization dedicated to bring to life a sustainable, world-class trail system in Greater Cincinnati, contributing to the joy, health, and well-being of our neighbors. We care about those that shape our communities, and we want to provide outlets for people to enjoy nature in a variety of ways, including mountain biking, hiking, trail running, sight seeing, along with adaptive trails for those who once couldn’t have access to these types of trails. Trails for all brings our community closer together, while introducing the benefits of nature that we know and love…or maybe you don’t know yet!
What kind of trails are you building within the next 5 years?
All kinds! Our vision is to be one of the top community trail systems in the country. There are various cities throughout the country who have made this their focus with positive experiences and growth in the very assets our mission is founded on. We are building a braided trail network to take your adventures to the next level. This gives you an entirely new lens of adventure right at your fingertips. We are in motion with the biggest trail network this area could have ever imagined, starting with the Northern Kentucky Regional Trails Plan in collaboration with Tri-State Trails. This is just part of our plan to bring up generations of trail users for generations to come. Our plan includes building 14 bike parks including 4 regional bike parks. This will spark interest in kids to get outside and play, while providing a great training ground for riders of all ages to develop skills to hit the trails with confidence.
How can I spread the word about the work CORA does?
First of all, THANK YOU for spreading the good word! We are excited about what’s happening in Greater Cincinnati for outdoor recreation, and we want to help share this with anyone and everyone. Your co-workers, neighbors, friends, family, and wider net of those you have yet to meet may not know the benefits of trails. They are proven to reduce stress, provide a variety of exercise types, and bring a smile to your face. Nature does that, and you can provide this accessible opportunity to those around you by telling them about the trails we support and love. If you guide them to coratrails.org/trails, that’s a great first step. Offer to go on a trail adventure with them and show them the joy you know and love. You never know, you could change someone’s life for the better by this simple act of kindness.
We have many projects in the works, some of which we can’t wait to share with you when plans are publicly released. To review our current publications, visit coratrails.org/projects.
If you know people who like to be more hands-on, we are expanding our volunteer programming, and its growth is incredibly important to our mission. Each volunteer is equipped with proper training from beginning stages to as far as they would like to advance their skills. Our trails are strategically maintained and built to last, and that includes proper education on sustainable trail building/ maintenance.
