Help Shape the Future of Harbin Park

Harbin Park in Fairfield, OH, is home to over 6 miles of natural surface trails winding through a city-managed greenspace that offers outdoor recreation for all ages. Safe, accessible trails invite new users to explore, connect with nature, and enjoy the outdoors. These trails have served mountain bikers, hikers, and trail runners for years, but they’re currently in rough shape. When trails are overgrown, blocked, or poorly maintained, that experience can quickly turn frustrating or even unsafe.

Many local trail users have learned to navigate Harbin Park's trails through trial and error. The lack of clear signage make the trails hard to follow and less enjoyable for all trail users. In the past year, we’ve noticed downed trees, thick overgrowth, and hazardous man-made features like ramps and drops. One dedicated volunteer kept the trail in shape, and since their retirement, the absence of regular maintenance has become noticeable.

Harbin Park in Fairfield, OH, is home to over 6 miles of natural surface trails winding through a city-managed greenspace that offers outdoor recreation for all ages. Safe, accessible trails invite new users to explore, connect with nature, and enjoy the outdoors at Harbin Park. These legacy trails have served mountain bikers, hikers, and trail runners for years, but they’re currently in rough shape.

In the past year, we’ve noticed downed trees, thick overgrowth, and hazardous man-made features like unapproved ramps and drops. One dedicated volunteer kept the trail in shape, and since their retirement, the absence of regular maintenance has become noticeable.

We believe Harbin Park Trails should be a welcoming trail system for the neighborhood. To make that possible, these trails need consistent care, and that takes a team. We want it to be safe, sustainable, accessible, and welcoming for everyone.

We’ve partnered with the City of Fairfield to maintain Harbin's natural surface trails, and we’re inviting neighbors, trail users, and anyone who loves their local parks to join us. You can be part of the team that shapes the future of Harbin Park’s trails.

Why Volunteers Are So Important

With more volunteers and proper training, we can bring these trails back to life and keep them in great shape. We are looking for anyone interested in learning the basics of trail maintenance and helping out during our scheduled Trail Days at Harbin. We are also looking for Trail Reporters who will notify our team of trail conditions and obstacles.

Initial trainings will include drain clearing, brushing, and tread work. These efforts will help us make the trails more accessible for our neighbors and more inviting for mountain bikers, hikers, and runners across the region.

One volunteer can make a difference. A team can move mountains!
